Partnership with Minted

Partnership with Minted
Erika Firm for Minted Ho ho xo. Around my studio I am ALWAYS working on holiday designs, thanks in part to Minted. I love designing stationery and photo cards, and Minted is one of my favorite licensing partners to work with. They are constantly coming up with fun new products and I'm in awe of their extensive art collection. I consider myself VERY LUCKY to have had a couple of my own pieces of art chosen for their collection. In the past few years Minted has added lots of textiles, home goods and home décor to the collection, including fabric, pillows, table runners, napkins, and lamp shades. Minted is a little different from some of my other partnerships, in that the collection is crowd sourced, meaning that my designs are voted on by Minted customers. The best designs are picked to be sold on the site. For every design of mine you see on the site, there are a dozen or so that didn't make the cut! It's humbling, but keeps me on my toes and pushes me creatively each time I enter a challenge. 10 Simple Kitchen Pendant Lights

10 Simple Kitchen Pendant Lights
Simple modern kitchen pendant lights roundup OMG. We bought a house on Johns Island, South Carolina. I haven't mentioned it here sooner because part of me thought it would never happen. But the permit finally came through and ground has been broken. Commence the freak out. Most of the big things have been chosen: flooring (French Oak wide plank), countertops (Carrera marble), and hardware (polished chrome). Lighting is another story. I'm on a mission to find some really great lighting to make our new construction a little more charming. In a perfect world, we'd either renovate a charming Charleston home, fix up a rambling island ranch, or build a completely custom home in the woods. But we don't have a million dollars (or any spare time to babysit a reno or completely custom build). So I need to figure out how to add some vintage-industrial-boho vibes to a pretty basic new construction home. We are going to need lighting for the foyer, the kitchen, dining room, living room, my studio, bathrooms, and stairwell. I'm starting with the kitchen island pendants, because it's the heart of the home! Here's a roundup of 10 kitchen pendant lights we're considering for our new Johns Island home. We'll need two pendant lights over the island. SOURCE | 1. Classic clear globe with polished chrome $166 2. Classic nickel finish globe with edison bulb $119 3. Partnership with Creative Market
Erika Firm for Creative Market Fun news! I'm partnering with Creative Market to sell stock illustrations, graphics, textures, backgrounds, templates ... and ... drumroll, please: FONTS! As a graphic designer, I've come to view Creative Market as an invaluable resource. Sometimes there just isn't time enough in the day to paint the perfect watercolor background or create a set of icons from scratch, and I rely heavily on Creative Market to help me run my project efficiently. I hope that the illustrations, backgrounds and templates I have published for sale on Creative Market can help out other designers in a time crunch. Partnership with Society6

Partnership with Society6
Erika Firm art for Society 6 So much art ... so little wall space! I've decided to partner up with Society6 to showcase my artwork because not only do they offer traditional prints and gallery canvases ... but they can also print my artwork on fun tech & phone cases and on home goods like pillows, shower curtains, blankets, towels and duvet covers. I just ordered "Summer Air" as a small rug and am loving it. I even threw it in the wash already and it kept its color and shape perfectly. Shop my art and products on Society6 here. Emerald Green Abstract

Emerald Green Abstract
Revel & Co. 2016 Green-abstract-surface-design-54 Green-abstract-surface-design-60 Green-abstract-surface-design-69 "Johns Island Sunday" was inspired by the salt marshes after the rain. Green-abstract-surface-design-71"Mossy North Side" was inspired by Johns Island woods after a series of storms. All the crazy mosses, lichens and fungi were popping up in our yard. Revel & Co. 2016 "Wind Break" was inspired by a particularly windy and rainy day. This is my interpretation of my backyard pond. Revel & Co. 2016 One guess what my favorite color is!!! emerald green abstract paintings When I painted this series of green abstracts it was raining buckets and all of Johns Island was emerald and rainforesty. In other words: heavenly. I'm honored that Revel & Co. chose to blow up my paintings and put them on wrapping paper. I don't have the space in my home studio to do large format paintings, but seeing my work on big sheets makes me want to move into a bigger space and bust out some giant canvases. Cloudy Day at Botany Bay

Cloudy Day at Botany Bay
Erika Firm at Botany Bay on Edisto Island, SC photo by Zoomworks Photography Some days are better than others. Days at Botany Bay on Edisto Island, SC are some of the best. My dear friend Shannah from ZoomWorks captured this shot of me soaking in the beach vibes last week after our big photo shoot for Revel & Co. I had my sketchbook with me, but this time it stayed in my backpack and I just relaxed and let my mind wander for a bit. A few days later I was painting and it's no surprise that the palette was faded just like that cloudy day at the beach. PHOTO | ZoomWorks Photography Continue reading
